highway 16. claudine wong is there outside the home, what are investigators saying, claudine? >> reporter: it has been a long night out here and they are still trying to get to the bottom of this. there are a couple of homes through here and then you have this single entrance and you can see the crime scene tape and you can see at least one or two sheriff's deputies cars and past them you see the home where this discovery was made yesterday afternoon. there is a lot we don't know at this hour, we could know yesterday afternoon between 3:00 and 4:00 sheriff's deputies got a call because there was a man who could not get ahold of his brother, he had been trying for hours and could not get ahold of him. three men were shot in the back bedroom of this home near forestville. police are not saying much, they say they were all shot,

they say they knew each other and they do not believe it was a random crime or murder/suicide but neighbors say it is not knowing which makes it hard to deal with. >> not knowing is unnerving. >> this is a wonderful place. this is a wonderful place... >> reporter: from news chopper 2 you can see the crime scene from where this all took place and we are not sure who owns this house and they had a family member associated with this property. we are also told the coroner would be out here and processing the evidence and we are still trying to confirm that for you at this hour. again it looks like it will be a long day out here near forestville, there is a mobile command unit, it is shut down for now and certainly we are

expecting them to use it today. we do know this investigation is just beginning. live near forestville claudine wong ktvu channel 2 morning news. today fairfield police will tell us the latest into the killing of a 13-year-old girl. kara lou is in fairfield with details on who this young victim was and new photos released by investigators. >> reporter: good morning, i just want to show you this memorial which is still growing, balloons and candles that are still lit. police have identified the 13- year-old girl and they have released photos of her and the image on the right with a pink backpack was captured last thursday just minutes before she was last seen. she lived with a foster family and was reported missing by her

legal guardian early thursday evening. her naked body was found in the park and some folks are concerned about the lack of information from police. >> i know they want to keep it private and protect their case but we are in this community as well and we need to be arounded with information too, the same information that they have. >> reporter: so far investigators have not confirmed how she died but they say she was strangled. they will discuss the progress of the investigation and coming up at 5:30 we will let you know how the community is remembering her, ktvu channel 2 morning news. a search for survivors goes on this morning in the south pacific after a magnitude 8 caused a tsunami in the islands. it also set off warnings in

been wiped out, tomorrow's system it will be some rain, not a lot. then cold air arrives on -- colder air arrives three or four weeks. they lost a cloud cover, oakland 41, at this time there were 50, so there is a lot of clear air in place, a little breezy on the coast and tomorrow we will focus our attention and the cold air comes right behind it. >> temperatures, upper 50s or right about at 60 or it will be a little bit close it will be sunshine wall to wall looks good to me and it will start to bring in cloud cover, and in the afternoon for everybody else, colder air plunges for everybody else, sunny breezy and a little warmer on sunday. water levels in the great lakes of michigan are at their

beginning to dance are not on the coast but a coastal fog came pushing down. turning cloudy, rain develops then friday into saturday, windy and cool, sunday will be a little bit better but it is a cold air mass starting friday. today we start off with patchy fog but there is mostly clear skies except some of that fog is heading back from the valley back towards us so cool to cold, sunny breezy, nice, our next system is poised to move up and we lost higher clouds and that big fog bank but still looking for that patchy fog and colder lows sunny and breezy and tomorrow rain will not be that much but the cold air is really the bigger story. 30s and 40s, concord 39 with some low clouds around, santa rosa 35, napa 35, after the

breeze breaks off, it will have good visibility, fog sun, it will be nice, colder lows though, again the wind is cranking up out of the northwest especially along the coast. 50s to near 60s and it is a fine line on high temperatures and tomorrow we will focus on high temperatures giving increasing clouds and rain develops late afternoon for most locations and the weekend looks good but morning lows will be cold. thank you steve. most european stock markets are opening the day with gains and most are reacting to the market overnight. the nikkei jumped to its highest level and that's after he said he was leaving early and that's after the possibility that new leaders are adopting jaun tatetive --

. welcome back, 5:23 is the time, federal investigators will be looking for answers after the deadly tour bus accident. a bus rolled over in the san bernardino mountains and crashed into a car and pick up truck. seven people were killed dozens of others injured and they will try to determine if bad breaks caused the bus driver to lose

a san jose man may have been stabbed overnight by his roommate. he went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and police have at least one person in custody. alex savage will be there with a live report. the u.s. postal service is making an announcement, no more saturday mail delivery. they have scheduled a conference aimed at a plan to save $2 billion a year and the u.s. postal service will no longer deliver mail on saturday but it will continue to deliver packages on saturdays. they are holding a news conference and they will tell us new details in the kevin collins case. he was a 10-year-old boy who disappeared more than 30 years ago. he was leaving the concord

apartment of kevin collins mother and police showed photos of the lead suspect in this case. he died five years ago and he is the focus of an investigation which has been picked up in recent months. >> we started to reopen this case in the cold case unit several months ago and we thought we would take a fresh look at it with fresh eyes and that's what we did. >> now, last week police dug up the concrete home where the suspect lived which is a few feet from the bus stop where kevin coliseum lips was the last -- kevin collins was last seen. a stabbing in san jose, alex savage has arrived at the scene, alex, what are police telling you this morning? >> reporter: well a sergeant said one man is being treated right now for stab wounds after

apparently being stabbed by his roommate. it all happened in this house across the street from us, and we are in south san jose this morning. it is unclear what led up to the stabbing. you can see one squad car remains on scene as the investigation is already wrapped up. they have one man in custody in connection with this attack and apparently the victim walked a mile away and that's where he was found and picked up by par med decision. the sergeant tells us he was picked up with stab wounds and they are considered to be non- life threatening at this point. i asked the sergeant exactly -p what kind of -- exactly what kind of weapon was used, he didn't want to comment if it was a knife or some other type of weapon obviously they will work together to get more information but one man is stabbed with non-life threatening wounds and one man

is in custody in connection with that attack. alex savage ktvu channel 2 morning news. they are looking into the investigation of the murder of a 13-year-old girl and we are talking to relatives and friends. >> reporter: they will be honoring the little girl who is gone too soon meanwhile a memorial is growing and dozens of messages like this one which said, i don't know you but i love you. police have identified the little girl and investigators have released photos of her saying the image on the right was seen last thursday. her naked body was found friday morning in the parking lot of allen wood park in fairfield.

as you can see a lot of residents have been out here showing their support. >> i was shocked. it was disbelief because it was so close to home and she was so young and didn't deserve that. i felt sorry for her. >> reporter: so far investigators have not confirmed how she died but family members say she was strangled. we are expecting an update a little later today regarding the latest in this investigation. for now we are live in fairfield, ktvu channel 2 morning news. president barack obama will try to get support from senate democrats for his second term agenda. he is meeting with senators at their annual retreat and president barack obama will press the senator for a unified front on gun control and immigration reform and budget issues. he will hear from them on

thursday. several celebrities are heading to capitol hill to join the debate over gun control. there are several celebrities among those to call on congress to enact universal gun weapons ban and they are part of the website demand a plan. redwood city police are tightening security as a result of newtown connecticut shooting. they include elementary school campuses and they plan on holding full scale emergency drills to simulate a shooter on campus. the president will offer a plan at a school board meeting one week from today. one person is dead including a 10-year-old boy after a tsunami was triggered in the islands. hospital workers say most of the damage is confined to the

santa cruz islands. rescue workers are trying to reach three more villages and they are fearing there may be more casualties. more than three after shocks have been felt since the earthquake was first felt. also in japan a tsunami was issued. people were told they did not have to evacuate. tsunami warnings to all areas near the solomon islands have since been canceled. and the city's version of a scarlett letter, coming up, there is a new proposal they are considering and we will have more on what it could mean if you are a landlord. 5:35 is the time and are there any problems to the commute? >> no, but we are cleaning up on the guadeloupe parkway you can see some of the yellow flashing lights and it's not

causing a big problem but you can see they are just about to get out of the way and no major problems here. also the morning commute if you are driving on westbound bay bridge and westbound commute looks good in san francisco with little delay. if you are driving on the freeway between hayward and vermont, there are no major problems and the roadwork on the dumbarton bridge has been picked up. let's go to steve. it is colder so colder morning lows and fog will give way to sunshine and we have upper 50s tomorrow, rain develops probably late morning or sometime in the morning in the north bay and colder on friday and sunny and cool on the weekend but the lows are going to get back in the 20s and 30s in wind protected areas. today in between areas, one is coming right out of the gulf of alaska so we are not expecting

much rain. today sunshine looks good and some of that fog, yesterday was more of a coastal fog and now we have more inland low clouds and fog but half-moon bay 42, oakland 41 and they were near 50s at this time yesterday. now they are back into the 30s so it is a colder morning but it will be sunny and increasing clouds until tomorrow but forted, lots of sun -- for today, lots of sunshine, blustery at times and colder by friday, not a lot of rain with this, a third of an inch should cover everybody. it towards to move into mendocino county with rain and then starts to fall apart and a second system rolls in on friday and clears out by saturday and it looks good but it will not be very warm. colder lows, breezy and windy

scene of a triple homicide in west sonoma county. they found the bodies of three men not far from highway 116. investigators say they were all targeted and there is no danger to the general public, we are told. a man from san jose was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed. he has non-life threatening injuries and police say his roommate is now in custody. two bombs were discovered after a young boy was held captive in an underground bunker for more than a week. one was in a plastic pipe that negotiators were using to communicate with the suspect, 65-year-old jimmy lee dykes. they were using a camera to monitor him with the boy and then went in and jimmy lee dykes was killed in a fire

fight. the boy turned 6 yesterday and well wishers signed a giant birthday card and the city is starting a campaign to start the boy and his family to disney world. police in palo alto are looking for a man who they say tried to grab an 11-year-old girl and tried to kidnap her. this is a sketch of the suspect. he is described as white in his 30s and has light colored hair and was wearing a puffy jacket at the time. the girl told police she was riding her bike on emerson street when the man tried to grab her. she screamed and man anded to get -- manage dollars to get away. -- managed to get away. he screamed he was going to kidnap her. boy scouts of america's board is trying to end a ban

>> 5:49 is the time, how is traffic, sal? there was a time when people start getting on the road and now we will start seeing more crowds. let's take a look at what we have with our live pictures and this is interstate 880 in oakland as you pass the coliseum. there are no problems heading to the san mateo bridge and also this morning if you are looking at the westbound bay bridge, a small delay and no actual problems getting on the bay bridge in san francisco. if you are driving from hayward to the peninsular, it looks good on highway 101 through pacifica and pretty much from half-moon bay all the way through is a nice drive so far. let's go to steve. well it is a lot colder and in fact, not only inland, but near 30s up along the coast, that is when that system is and coming right down out of the

north and they will get a little bit of rain out of it tomorrow. they start with patchy fog, sunny breezy but nice, there is no doubt about it especially along the coast and we have seen 20 to 25 miles per hour and it looks good for sunshine, 30s on the temperatures and yesterday it was all 30s to near 50 and that's not the case. 43, yesterday pacifica is 39. 35 santa rosa, san jose 39, even moffett had 39 and that tells you, it's much colder. we had a lot of sunshine on the old weather menu and it looks good, we will be talking about our first rain in awhile. we could use a little more rain and we will have maybe a third of an inch but the cold air will be arriving on friday. a little breeze over there out of the northwest, but it will be sunny to mid-50s upper 50s and very low 60s on

temperatures and temperatures are close bay and inland. showers closer to the coast than anywhere else and windy and cold on saturday, breezy and warmer on sunday. hp issued a statement saying they will suffer when the deal is complete and del's significant debt load will keep it from investing in new products. mitsubishi is recalling cars because of potential break problems. the maker said the pump could fail which means it could take longer for cars to stop. it has not heard of many accidents caused by the problem but they will recall and fix all affected vehicles from the 2012 years. they jumped almost 50%.
